IHSG Falls 8.35 Percent Over Week
Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) recorded mixed performance in stock trading data over the past week, covering the period 18–22 May 2026. The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) continued its weakening trend, closing at the 6,162 level.
“The IHSG’s movement over the week was corrected by 8.35 percent and closed at level 6,162.045 from the previous week’s position of 6,723.320,” the IDX stated in its statement, cited on Sunday (24/5/2026).
The market capitalisation value of the IDX also recorded a decline of 10.07 percent to Rp 10.635 trillion from the previous month’s position of Rp 11.825 trillion. The average daily transaction frequency also experienced a decline of 6.5 percent to 2.37 million transactions from 2.53 million transactions in the previous week.
Meanwhile, the average daily transaction value this week increased by 15.68 percent to Rp 21.77 trillion from Rp 18.82 trillion in the previous week. The increase was also reflected in the average daily transaction volume of the IDX, which rose by 2.53 percent to 36.67 billion shares from 35.76 billion shares in the previous week.
Foreign investors at the close of trading this week recorded a net selling value of Rp 309.52 billion. Throughout 2026, foreign investors have recorded a net selling value of Rp 41.63 trillion.
The IDX conveyed that it has carried out a number of strategic activities throughout this week that reflect efforts to strengthen investor confidence, develop the Islamic capital market, increase financial literacy, and deepen the market amid global market dynamics.
On Tuesday (19/5/2026), the IDX received a visit from Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad at the IDX Building in Jakarta. The visit was also accompanied by Chairperson of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Friderica Widyasari Dewi, Chief Executive Officer Danantara Rosan Roeslani, and Chief Operating Officer Danantara Dony Oskaria. The visit demonstrated support for strengthening investor confidence and the stability of Indonesia’s capital market.
At this opportunity, Dasco conveyed optimism regarding the prospects of Indonesia’s capital market despite the IHSG facing pressure. The IDX welcomed support from all stakeholders in the development of a healthy, orderly, and competitive Indonesian capital market. Amidst global market volatility, coordination and synergy between authorities and market players became an important factor in maintaining investor confidence and strengthening the resilience of Indonesia’s capital market.
Subsequently, from Wednesday (20/5/2026) to Saturday (23/5/2026), the IDX and other Self-Regulatory Organisations (SRO) consisting of Indonesia Clearing and Guarantee Corporation (KPEI) and Indonesia Central Securities Depository (KSEI), with the support of the OJK, organised a series of activities titled “Elevate 2026: Indonesia Islamic Capital Market – 15 Years Rising Heading Worldwide” held hybrid in the Main Hall of the IDX and via digital platform.
The Elevate 2026 series of activities, which included the Islamic Finance News (IFN) Indonesia Forum and Sharia Investment Week (SIW) 2026, reflected various important milestones in the development of Indonesia’s Islamic capital market, ranging from the launch of the Indonesian Sharia Stock Index (ISSI), the issuance of DSN-MUI Fatwa Number 80, to the implementation of the Sharia Online Trading System (SOTS).
“Through these activities, the IDX hopes to increase literacy and inclusion in the Islamic capital market, strengthen the positioning of Indonesia’s Islamic capital market at the global level, and encourage community participation in Sharia investment in Indonesia’s capital market,” it explained.
