IHSG Falls 0.60% in Session I, Big-Cap Stocks Weigh on the Market
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) closed lower at 6,332 in Session I of trading on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. The decline occurred amid selling pressure in several large-cap stocks. The biggest pressure came from blue-chip shares that corrected sharply. PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (TPIA) led the losses with a fall of 12.8%. PT Petrindo Jaya Kreasi Tbk (CUAN) dropped 6.2%. PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk (BREN) weakened 5.3%. Meanwhile, PT Candra Daya Investasi Tbk (CDIA) declined 4.6%. Nine of the 12 sector indices were in the red by the end of Session I. Data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) shows IHSG at 6,332.179. The index fell 38.500 points or 0.60%. The movement of IHSG fluctuated sharply. The index opened at 6,352.202. The IHSG later rose to reach the daily high of 6,459.556. However, selling pressure returned to dominate the market. The IHSG briefly slid to a daily low of 6,215.562 before trimming its losses. Trading volume reached 27.555 billion shares, with a value of Rp 13.677 trillion. The number of trades amounted to 1,600,448 transactions. A total of 521 shares closed lower. 165 shares closed higher, while 128 remained unchanged. BEI’s market capitalisation stood at Rp 11,001.660 trillion.
