IHSG Extends Rally, Surges 1.31% to Near 6,200 Level
The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) reversed course by the end of the first trading session today, Friday (17/6/2026). After opening in the red, the IHSG surged 1.32% or 80 points to 6,188.33. The index moved within a range of 6,079.32 to 6,188.33 throughout the day. The index had been sluggish at the open, weighed down by weakness in major banking shares, but quickly found support as market sentiment shifted. The financial and energy sectors were the primary drivers of the afternoon’s gains, even as many other sectors remained in negative territory. Bank Mandiri (BMRI) rose 3.71%, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BBRI) gained 4.55%, Bank Negara Indonesia (BBNI) advanced 3.14%, and Bank Central Asia (BBCA) climbed 3.61%. These four major banks alone contributed more than 50 points to the IHSG’s increase. Conversely, DCI Indonesia (DCII) was the main laggard, falling 3.94% on a transaction volume of just one lot. The positive domestic sentiment was bolstered by the inauguration of the Masela Block gas project and the release of record investment data. President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated the Masela Block gas project in the Tanimbar Islands, Maluku, on Thursday. The project, managed by a consortium including Inpex, Pertamina, and Petronas, carries a total investment value of US$20.95 billion, equivalent to approximately Rp390 trillion. It is projected to produce 9.5 million tonnes of LNG per year and is expected to absorb up to 10,000 workers. Additionally, the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming reported that investment realisation for the first half of 2026 reached Rp1,010.6 trillion, a 7.2% increase compared to the same period last year, achieving 49.5% of the annual target of Rp2,041.3 trillion.
