TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) closed lower during the trading week of September 7 to 11, 2026. According to Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) data, the benchmark index fell 1.43 percent compared to the previous week’s performance.

The IHSG finished the week at 6,541.37, down from 6,636.47 the previous week, in line with a contraction in market capitalization. “IDX market capitalization dropped 1.32 percent to Rp11,446 trillion from Rp11,599 trillion last week,” the exchange stated in an official release on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

The IDX reported mixed performance across average weekly trading indicators. Average daily transaction value dropped 14.88 percent to Rp16.36 trillion from Rp19.22 trillion recorded the week before. Meanwhile, average daily trading volume shrank by 26.34 percent to 36.09 billion shares from 48.99 billion shares.

Average daily transaction frequency also fell 7.07 percent to 2.22 million transactions, down from 2.39 million transactions the previous week. By the close of trading on Friday, September 11, 2026, foreign investors posted a net selling value of Rp690.19 billion, bringing net foreign outflows throughout 2026 to Rp71.415 trillion.

During Friday morning’s session, the stock index opened down 36.55 points, or 0.55 percent, at 6,552.79. The slump mirrored retreats across Asian and global markets, driven by surging crude oil prices and expectations that the US Federal Reserve will maintain a hawkish stance at its September 2026 policy meeting.

Kiwoom Sekuritas Indonesia Head of Research Liza Camelia Suryanata noted in her market analysis that US Producer Price Index (PPI) data revealed higher-than-expected producer inflation. The data reshaped market expectations, signaling to investors that the Fed has a stronger case to raise interest rates by 25 basis points at its September 2026 meeting.

Brent crude oil prices surged 8.7 percent to US$109.97 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) climbed 8.54 percent to US$104 per barrel.

“These developments increase the risk of prolonged energy supply disruptions while exacerbating inflationary pressures across multiple countries,” Liza said on Friday, September 11, 2026, as reported by Antara.
