IHSG Closes Up 1.59% Amid President Prabowo's Speech
The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) closed significantly higher on Friday (14/8/2026). The IHSG jumped 1.59% to 6,401 amid a speech by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Nusantara Building, DPR RI, Jakarta.
Based on data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange, the IHSG closed at 6,401.89, up 100.12 points or 1.59% from the previous close of 6,301.77.
The IHSG was sluggish at the start of trading. The index touched a low of 6,267.41 before reversing course and reaching its highest level, which was also today’s close, at 6,401.89.
The IHSG’s gain was mainly supported by a surge in shares of PT Bayan Resources Tbk (BYAN). BYAN shares closed up 20% at Rp14,400 per share, hitting its daily trading limit.
BYAN’s rise contributed 44.13 points to the IHSG, making it the stock with the largest contribution to the index’s gain.
Besides BYAN, Sejahteraraya Anugrahjaya (SRAJ) contributed 10.66 points, Maha Properti Indonesia (MPRO) 8.19 points, VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas (VKTR) 4.51 points, and Mora Telematika Indonesia (MORA) 4.15 points.
On the other hand, several stocks weighed on the IHSG. Barito Renewables Energy (BREN) was the biggest drag with a negative contribution of 3.93 points, followed by Bank Central Asia (BBCA) at 2.49 points and Chandra Asri Pacific (TPIA) at 1.18 points.
By sector, almost all stock sectors ended in positive territory. The energy sector was the strongest performer with a gain of 6.80%, followed by healthcare, up 5.94%, and property, up 4.85%.
Furthermore, the primary consumer sector rose 1.31%, technology 1.29%, non-primary consumer 1.12%, raw materials 0.86%, industrials 0.78%, and financials 0.27%.
Meanwhile, the utilities sector was the only sector that recorded a decline, falling 1.34%.
The IHSG’s gain was also reflected in the breadth of stock movements. A total of 354 stocks rose, 277 stocks fell, and 332 stocks were unchanged.
Total trading volume reached 31.08 billion shares with a transaction value of Rp12.39 trillion. Transaction frequency was recorded at 1.73 million times, with market capitalisation reaching approximately Rp11,243 trillion.
Meanwhile, although the index strengthened, based on data from Stockbit Sekuritas, foreign investors actually recorded a net foreign sell of Rp377.63 billion across all markets during today’s first session.
Overall, foreign transaction value in the first session reached Rp3.84 trillion, with details of foreign buy amounting to Rp1.73 trillion and foreign sell Rp2.11 trillion.
