The Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) Composite Index (IHSG) closed lower on Thursday, as investors turned cautious ahead of announcements by global index providers MSCI and the rebalancing of the FTSE Russell index on Friday (19/6). The IHSG fell 48.40 points, or 0.78 percent, to 6,172.34. Meanwhile, six sectors weakened, with the infrastructure sector experiencing the deepest decline of 1.96 percent, followed by the financial sector and the healthcare sector, which fell 1.32 percent and 1.07 percent respectively. Top gainers among stocks included CBUT, JECC, ZONE, KOPI, and RLCO. The biggest losers were KONI, DEFI, BCIC, DPUM, and ESIP. Total trading frequency was recorded at 1,779,000 transactions, with 23.68 billion shares traded, valued at Rp17.97 trillion. Overall, 271 stocks rose, 445 stocks fell, and 243 remained unchanged. In regional Asian markets this afternoon, the Nikkei index strengthened 1,223.75 points, or 1.75 percent, to 71,126.00; the Hang Seng index fell 387.35 points, or 1.59 percent, to 23,924.81; the Shanghai index weakened 17.59 points, or 0.43 percent, to 4,090.48; and the Strait Times index rose 36.38 points, or 0.70 percent, to 5,212.84.
