IHSG Closes Lower at 7,022 Level as Selling Pressure Dominates Trading

Jakarta – The Indonesian Composite Index (IHSG) closed weaker on Monday trading (16 March 2026). Based on data from the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI), the IHSG fell 114.92 points or 1.61 per cent to 7,022.29.

The IHSG opened at 7,115.45, lower than the previous close of 7,137.21. During trading, the index touched a high of 7,120.19 and a low of 6,917.32.

Total stock trading volume on the exchange reached 31.65 billion shares with transaction value of approximately 15.77 trillion rupiah and frequency of 1.643 million times. Market capitalisation was recorded at 12.412 trillion rupiah.

Stock movements were dominated by the red zone with 569 stocks declining, 189 stocks advancing, and 200 stocks stagnant.

The Islamic indices also entered the red zone. The Jakarta Islamic Index (JII) fell 13.36 points or 2.83 per cent to 459.04.

The Jakarta Islamic Index 70 (JII70) weakened 4.16 points or 2.31 per cent to 175.58, whilst the Indonesia Syariah Stock Index (ISSI) fell 4.92 points or 1.97 per cent to 244.40.

The majority of stock sector movements were in the red zone. The energy sector recorded the largest decline after falling 82.09 points or 2.24 per cent to 3,588.01.

The property sector also weakened 21.12 points or 2.28 per cent to 907.01, whilst the materials sector fell 36.84 points or 1.82 per cent to 1,981.87.

The technology sector also weakened 177.73 points or 2.34 per cent to 7,422.38, whilst the non-cyclical consumer sector declined slightly 1.09 points or 0.16 per cent to 695.67.

On the other hand, several sectors remained strong. The financial sector rose 6.15 points or 0.45 per cent to 1,379.33.

The industrial sector also strengthened 3.65 points or 0.21 per cent to 1,759.35, followed by the health sector which rose 2.35 points or 0.13 per cent to 1,802.37.

From the top LQ45 stocks, today’s top gainers were led by PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia Tbk (CPIN) which rose 10.28 per cent to 3,970 rupiah per share. Followed by PT Surya Citra Media Tbk (SCMA) which strengthened 7.03 per cent and PT AKR Corporindo Tbk (AKRA) which rose 3.63 per cent.

Several other stocks also recorded varied movements. Shares of PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk (MEDC) rose 2.94 per cent to 1,750 rupiah per share, whilst PT Hermina Tbk (HEAL) strengthened 2.69 per cent to 1,335 rupiah.

In the banking sector, shares of PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA) fell 1.82 per cent to 6,750 rupiah per share. PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk (BBRI) weakened 0.85 per cent to 3,480 rupiah, whilst PT Bank Mandiri Tbk (BMRI) fell 1.05 per cent to 4,700 rupiah.

Meanwhile, shares of PT Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk (BBNI) actually strengthened 1.89 per cent to 4,320 rupiah per share.
