The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) ended trading on Thursday, 6 August 2026, in negative territory. Although the decline was relatively modest, the majority of stocks and sectoral indices recorded pressure through to the close of trading.

The JCI closed down 7.42 points, or 0.12 percent, at 6,343.71. Throughout the trading session, stock market movements remained overshadowed by selling activity, resulting in more stocks ending lower than higher.

Trading data showed that 265 stocks managed to record gains, while 337 stocks declined and 192 others closed unchanged.

This condition was also reflected in the movement of sectoral indices. Of the 11 sectors traded on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), only four sectors managed to remain in positive territory, while the other seven sectors closed lower in line with the JCI.

The energy sector led the gains. Amid the decline in the main index, the energy sector became the market’s biggest support, recording the highest increase compared with other sectors.

The energy sector rose 1.43 percent and was the best-performing sector in today’s trading. The increase was followed by the industrial sector, which rose 0.86 percent, and the transportation sector, which gained 0.59 percent.

The gains in these three sectors helped to contain deeper pressure on the JCI, even though the majority of other sectors remained in negative territory.

On the other hand, a number of sectors experienced significant pressure, contributing to the JCI’s decline in today’s trading.

The property sector suffered the deepest correction, falling 0.70 percent. The decline was followed by the healthcare sector, which fell 0.48 percent, and the technology sector, which weakened 0.40 percent.

The decline in these sectors meant that the number of sectoral indices in negative territory was greater than the number of sectors that managed to gain.

Share trading activity on the Indonesia Stock Exchange remained fairly active throughout Thursday’s session, with total transaction value reaching Rp17.79 trillion.
