IHSG Closes Higher on Positive Domestic and Global Sentiment
The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) closed higher on Tuesday afternoon, driven by positive sentiment from both domestic and global levels. The IHSG closed up 85.11 points, or 1.37 percent, at 6,319.61. Meanwhile, the LQ45 index of top 45 stocks rose 11.28 points, or 1.81 percent, to 635.21. “Regional Asian markets moved higher in line with the positive trend on Wall Street,” said Maximilianus Nico Demus, Associate Director of Research and Investment at Pilarmas Investindo Sekuritas, in his research note in Jakarta on Tuesday. Domestically, Indonesia’s inflation data for the July 2026 period fell to 2.88 percent year on year (yoy), remaining within Bank Indonesia’s (BI) target range of 2.5 percent plus or minus 1 percent. Meanwhile, Indonesia’s trade balance for the June 2026 period recorded a deficit of 0.45 billion US dollars, lower than the deficit of 1.61 billion US dollars in the previous month. Despite the deficit, Nico noted that cumulatively, Indonesia’s trade balance for the January-June 2026 period still recorded a surplus of 3.58 billion US dollars. On the other hand, market participants are awaiting Indonesia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) data for the second quarter of 2026 later this week.
