IHSG Closes Higher in First Trading Session

The composite stock price index (IHSG) closed up 2.46 percent at 5,886.01 in the first trading session on Friday, 3 July 2026. The IHSG soared, continuing the strengthening seen at Friday morning’s opening, which rose 61.61 points or 1.07 percent to 5,806.17. Citing data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange, all indices strengthened into positive territory. The highest gain occurred in the basic materials sector index (IDXBASIC), which rose 3.80 percent. This was followed by the industrial sector (IDXINDUST), which increased by up to 3.20 percent. Meanwhile, the infrastructure sector (IDXINFRA) and the energy sector (IDXENERGY) strengthened by 2.6 percent and 2.31 percent, respectively. Gains also occurred in the technology sector index (IDXTECHNO) at around 1.92 percent. The property sector (IDXPROPERTY) and financial sector (IDXFINANCE) increased by 1.60 percent and 1.52 percent, respectively. In yesterday’s trading, the stock index closed at 5,744, strengthening by 49.44 points or 0.87 percent. In trading last week, the IHSG had plunged 4.55 percent to 5,896.13 from 6,177.13 the previous week. The decline was accompanied by a drop in the IDX market capitalisation from Rp10,788 trillion to Rp10,302 trillion. Equity Analyst at PT Indo Premier Sekuritas (IPOT), Brigita Kinari, stated that this correction was triggered by a mass sell-off by foreign investors, with net foreign sell recorded at Rp3.19 trillion in the regular market. This record also cut the average daily transaction frequency by 22.95 percent to 1.73 million times and the daily transaction volume by 26.01 percent to 25.18 billion shares. Throughout this week, IPOT predicts the IHSG movement will be in a medium-term downtrend, although it has experienced a reversal or rebound from its lowest level. If the IHSG support area of 5,700–5,800 holds, the index movement is still expected to consolidate within the 5,500–6,400 range.
