IHSG Closes Down 52 Points Due to Profit-Taking by Investors, Check Out These 3 Stocks That Still Shine
Jakarta, VIVA - The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) reversed course and corrected after a sharp strengthening at the start of this week. The IHSG weakened by 0.68 per cent or 52.37 points to close at 7,623.59 during trading on Wednesday, 15 April 2026.
The downward trend occurred in the second session, where the index fell from around 7,713, gradually eroding to its intraday low. Daily transaction volume was recorded at Rp514.38 million, with a transaction value of Rp22.61 trillion and a total of 3.16 million trades.
The health sector fell the most by 2.81 per cent, followed by a sharp correction in the infrastructure sector by 1.33 per cent, and the cyclical consumer sector eroded by 1.00 per cent. Declines were also noted in the financial sector by 0.64 per cent, the basic materials sector lost 0.44 per cent, and the energy sector fell 0.27 per cent.
Although the IHSG was on fire, some stock sectors remained shining. The transportation sector strengthened by 3.46 per cent, the industrial sector rose 1.54 per cent, the technology sector jumped 0.52 per cent, the non-cyclical consumer sector soared 0.30 per cent, and the property sector increased 0.21 per cent.
“After briefly strengthening to the 7,773 level, the IHSG moved variably and ultimately closed weaker. The infrastructure sector recorded the largest correction.
“The weakening of the IHSG was partly due to profit-taking after experiencing a rally over the past week,” stated the Phintraco Sekuritas Analysis Team in its daily research on Wednesday, 15 April 2026.
Technically, the Stochastic RSI is in the overbought area and forming a Death Cross. However, the MACD’s positive histogram is still rising.
From a global perspective, the international rating agency S&P Global Ratings stated that Indonesia’s sovereign debt rating is most vulnerable to prolonged conflicts in the Middle East. Rising energy costs due to the conflict are projected to increase Indonesia’s subsidy costs and pressure the state budget.
More expensive oil imports will widen the current account deficit. S&P also assesses that accelerated inflation will drive interest rate hikes, which could increase the government’s borrowing costs.
