The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) strengthened to 5,875.7 at the close of trading on Friday, 3 July 2026. The rupiah also appreciated by 32 points to 17,963 per US dollar.

According to data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange, the index surged 2.28 percent compared to the previous day. Trading volume reached Rp 10.54 trillion, with a transaction frequency of 1.38 million trades and a volume of 18.15 billion shares.

The IHSG had been strengthening since the opening of trading. All sectors closed in positive territory, with the industrial sector index (IDXINDUST) leading gains, rising 3.61 percent, followed by the basic materials sector index (IDXBASIC) which climbed 3.24 percent.

Meanwhile, the spot rupiah closed 0.18 percent stronger. Currency analyst Ibrahim Assuaibi predicted the rupiah would fluctuate next week but ultimately close higher, moving within a range of Rp 17,910 to Rp 17,970 per US dollar.

Today’s strengthening aligned with a weakening US dollar index. Investors continue to monitor negotiations between the US and Iran. US President Donald Trump’s statement that Iran has agreed to almost all US requirements has fostered confidence that discussions are progressing.

On the other hand, Iran has rejected a proposal to relinquish claims over the Strait of Hormuz. “The mixed signals mean geopolitical risk remains a concern for traders, even as fears of direct disruption to Gulf crude oil supplies continue to ease,” Ibrahim said.
