IGRS Verification Temporarily Halted Following Game Data Leak
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) has temporarily halted all verification processes for the Indonesia Game Rating System (IGRS) following allegations of a leak involving unreleased game materials.
Director of Digital Ecosystem Development at Komdigi, Sonny Hendra Sudaryana, stated that a thorough investigation and evaluation of the IGRS system is underway, covering technical aspects to organisational governance.
“While awaiting the completion of this entire investigation and evaluation process, we have decided to temporarily suspend the overall IGRS verification process,” said Sonny at Ganara Art FX Sudirman, Jakarta, on Friday (17/4/2026).
He explained that since the leak incident occurred, Komdigi has formed a special team to comprehensively investigate the matter.
“This team is tracing all aspects from the system, processes, to its governance, so that we can obtain findings that are truly objective and comprehensive,” said Sonny.
Komdigi is also involving various stakeholders, including industry associations and the public, in the investigation process.
In addition, Komdigi is opening opportunities for the public to provide input on improvements to the IGRS system.
Sonny emphasised that IGRS was established for the public interest, particularly in providing protection to the public and certainty for the national gaming industry.
Previously reported, there were reports of circulating gameplay clips from several major games, including 007: First Light and Bandai Namco’s Echoes of Aincrad.
The leak is suspected to have originated from a security vulnerability in the IGRS system, which allowed private materials for the classification process to be accessed by the public.
