Ignoring Maximum Load Limits, Dozens of Mining Trucks Force Through Roads in Parung Panjang
Dozens of mining trucks in Parung Panjang continue to freely traverse roads in the afternoon and evening over the past week, despite the companies’ mining permits still being revoked by West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi since September 2025.
Based on observations from Monday (2/9) through Thursday evening (2/12), dozens of mining trucks continued to travel on the road that was recently renovated and funded by the Bogor Regency budget. From Monday through Thursday evening, dozens of mining trucks roamed along Jalan Muhammad Toha in Parung Panjang. The road in Parung Panjang had just been fully renovated in December. The renovation covered 5.6 kilometers of road at a cost of Rp 61.69 billion.
Based on observations, the trucks traveled at night around 9:00 p.m., 10:00 p.m., and as late as 11:00 p.m. local time. Additionally, some trucks were parked on the roadside.
Parung Panjang residents said the trucks should not be allowed to pass because the companies’ mining permits were still revoked by West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi in September 2025.
“This new road is already becoming uneven. Meanwhile, they [the trucks] won’t contribute to road repairs,” said one resident.
In September 2025, West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi temporarily halted mining activities in the Parung Panjang, Rumpin, and Cigudeg subdistricts of Bogor Regency. In a letter numbered 7920/ES.09/PEREK signed by Dedi, a directive was issued for the temporary suspension of mining business activities from September 26, 2025, until further notice.
“You are hereby requested to temporarily halt mining business activities from September 26, 2025, until the provisions referred to in point 2 (two) above are fulfilled, and after submitting a written report with supporting evidence to the Governor of West Java c/o the Head of the West Java Provincial Energy and Mineral Resources Agency,” the letter issued on Thursday (9/25) read.
Transportation Agency officers turned trucks around on the Parung Panjang Community Movement for Change social media account, where mining trucks were reported passing through in the afternoon, causing traffic congestion on Tuesday (2/10). The account also reported that Bogor Regency Transportation Agency officers ordered mining truck drivers to turn around when passing through Parung Panjang.
“We, the residents of Parung Panjang, will continue to reject mining transport vehicles passing through Parung Panjang’s main road, as it poses a threat to public safety and comfort in terms of accidents,” the account stated.
Previously, Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto allocated approximately Rp 100 billion through the 2026 regional budget for land acquisition for a dedicated 12-kilometer mining transport route from Cigudeg to Rumpin. The commitment was announced by the Bogor Regent while leading a meeting on mining support road construction with mining company executives at Soekarno Hatta Hall, Bogor Regent’s Office, on Tuesday (1/13).
“A total budget of approximately Rp 100 billion has been prepared, including for land clearing activities, community service projects with the military, and the construction of temporary bridges at several points,” he said in an official release.
The meeting was attended by 28 mining company leaders operating in the West Bogor area, comprising 22 companies in Cigudeg Subdistrict, 5 companies in Rumpin Subdistrict, and 1 company in Parung Panjang Subdistrict.
