Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Fashion Designers and Entrepreneurs Association (APPMI) is staging the BTN Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) 2026 under the theme “Ulos Simetria”, which champions the Indonesian fashion industry maintaining a balance between tradition and innovation.

President of Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) and Chairwoman of APPMI, Poppy Dharsono, said that Ulos is not merely a traditional cloth from North Sumatra, but a symbol of warmth, balance, harmony and unity.

“Through this theme, we want to affirm that the Indonesian fashion industry must continue to maintain a balance between tradition and innovation, between local wisdom and global competition, and between cultural values and the future of the creative industries. This is the spirit that underpins Indonesia Fashion Week 2026,” said Poppy at the opening of BTN IFW 2026 in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Entering its 14th edition, the annual fashion event initiated by APPMI aims to provide a platform for fashion sector players by bringing together hundreds of designers, brand owners, fashion house owners, fashion and craft artisans, as well as SMEs to jointly strengthen the Indonesian fashion ecosystem.

The BTN IFW 2026 event, to be held at the Jakarta Convention Centre (JCC) in Senayan, Central Jakarta, from 29 July to 3 August 2026, will feature a more diverse range of designers and tenants from across Indonesia, with a programme covering fashion shows, trade exhibitions, talkshows, creative forums, entertainment performances and culinary offerings designed to build a competitive, inclusive and sustainable fashion ecosystem.

Through the meeting of creativity among diverse designers, gatherings at creative forums, and cross-cultural exchange with a variety of cultures from home and abroad on the BTN Indonesia Fashion Week 2026 platform, Ulos serves as the main inspiration for a wide range of cross-sector innovations beyond the field of fashion.
