Iftar Supplications

The time for breaking the fast is not only about quenching thirst and hunger. Muslims are also encouraged to increase supplications at Iftar. The following two duas for breaking the fast are based on the explanation of Ustadz Adi Hidayat in the video ‘Tentang Doa Berbuka Puasa (Part 2)’ uploaded to YouTube.

First Version

ذَهَبَ الظَّمَـأُ، وابْــتَلَّتِ العُرُوقُ، وثَــبَتَ الأَجْرُ إِن شَاءَ اللهُ

Dzahabazh zhoma’u wabtallatil ’uruqu wa tsabatal ajru, insyaallah

Meaning: “The thirst has disappeared, the tubes have become moist and, by the will of Allah, the reward is established. Inshaa’Allah.” (Hadith Abu Daud)

Second Version

Allaahumma lakasumtu wabika aamantu wa’alaa rizqika afthortu birahmatika yaa arhamar-roohimiin.

Meaning: “O Allah, for You I have fasted, in You I believe, upon Your sustenance I have broken my fast, with Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.” (Hadith Bukhari and Muslim)

Based on Ustadz Adi Hidayat’s instructions, you can combine these duas. The Dzahabazh zhoma’u can be read as an opener, followed by Allahumma laka shumtu.

When is the right time to recite the dua at breaking the fast? Almanhaj’s site notes that the Prophet usually recited the Dzahabazh zhoma’u dua after breaking his fast. This aligns with the meaning of the dua: “The thirst has faded and the veins have become moist…”

Thus, this is the information for the Iftar schedule on Wednesday, 4 March 2026 for the City of Denpasar, Bali and surrounding areas. May this article be useful to you.
