Iftar foods in North Jakarta safe from hazardous substances
A total of 58 takjil food samples sourced from vendors on Jalan Semangka were tested using rapid tests to detect the presence of hazardous chemical substances, and the results were declared safe for consumption, according to Wawan Budi Rohman, Assistant for Economy and Development (Ekbang) to the North Jakarta City Secretary, in Jakarta on Wednesday.
In the sampling, it was conducted randomly across various popular foods, such as kue basah, lontong, fried tofu (tahu goreng), es pisang hijau, otak-otak mercon, and an assortment of fried snacks.
The testing was carried out in collaboration with the Jakarta BBPOM and the North Jakarta Health Office under the activity Pembinaan dan Pengawasan Keamanan Pangan Takjil dan Jajanan in Lagoa Sub-district, Lagoa.
According to him, based on the on-site results, all samples were declared safe for consumption as no hazardous substances were found.
In addition to the testing, the activity also served as an educational session for traders to avoid using ingredients that do not comply with BPOM regulations.
“This effort is also to maintain the quality, cleanliness and safety of foods sold to the public,” he said.
Lurah Lagoa, Yuyun Wahyudi, praised traders who have complied with food safety standards. “Routine monitoring like this is part of the effort to protect public health during the holy month of Ramadan,” she said.
