Indonesia’s seven-a-side Football Association 7 (FA7) team secured silver at the IFA7 World Championship 2026 after losing 2-9 to hosts Honduras in the final on Sunday (31/5) local time.
“Indonesia’s achievement as runner-up at the IFA7 World Championship is truly remarkable,” said FA7 Indonesia President Raden Bambang Pramukantoro in an official statement on Monday (1/6).
“By the grace of God, the Indonesian nation has been given the opportunity to compete in the World Cup,” he added.
This marks a historic achievement for the Merah Putih team as it is the first time they have secured a silver medal. Moving forward, Bambang is committed to expanding FA7 Indonesia to reach every region from Aceh to Papua. He believes seven-a-side football has significant growth potential as it requires less infrastructure than conventional football.
“We will provide ample opportunities for all Indonesian youths from every corner of the republic to showcase their talents,” Bambang said.
Bambang expressed gratitude to all players, coaches, officials, FA7 Indonesia management, and the Indonesian public for their support and prayers during the tournament.
With the silver medal at the IFA7 World Championship 2026, Indonesia has not only set a new international record but also opened up hopes for a new generation of FA7 players to bring home the world title in the future. (Ant/P-3)
