The government will implement a work-from-home (WFH) policy for one day per week. The specific day for WFH has not yet been determined.

detikcom opened a poll on Monday (23/3/2026) regarding preferences for the one-day WFH. In the interim results up to Wednesday (25/3), detikers most commonly chose Monday.

  1. Monday: 41.96%

  2. Tuesday: 2.68%

  3. Wednesday: 16.96%

  4. Thursday: 1.79%

  5. Friday: 36.61%

As is known, this planned one-day WFH policy for civil servants (ASN) and the private sector emerged following budget efficiency measures due to the Middle East conflict. The ministers are still preparing the technical details of this policy and will announce them after the Eid holidays.

Meanwhile, several regions have also discussed the concept of one-day WFH per week. Some areas have leaned towards a specific day.

The Mayor of Yogyakarta (Jogja), Hasto Wardoyo, has prepared a scheme for one-day WFH per week. Friday has been chosen as the implementation day for WFH for ASN in the Yogyakarta City Government. “To keep work effective, my plan is Friday WFH,” said Hasto, quoted by detikJogja on Sunday (22/3).

Meanwhile, the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, has chosen Wednesday. This day was selected over Friday to avoid it becoming a long weekend.

“If it’s on Friday, there’s a tendency for it to drag into a long weekend. This is what we want to avoid,” said Khofifah in her speech while leading the First Roll Call for ASN of the East Java Provincial Government after the Eid holidays and collective leave in 2026 at the Governor’s Office of East Java, quoted by detikJatim, Wednesday (25/3).
