IDX Trading Activity Intensifies Over the Week, Transaction Volume Rises by 35.9%
Stock trading activity on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) strengthened throughout the week of 31 August–4 September 2026. Transaction volume, value, and frequency on the IDX increased alongside the strengthening of the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI).
The average daily transaction volume on the IDX recorded the highest increase, rising by 35.9% to 48.99 billion shares from 36.05 billion shares in the previous week. An increase was also observed in the average daily transaction value, which rose by 25.75% to Rp 19.22 trillion, compared to Rp 15.29 trillion the previous week. Meanwhile, the average daily transaction frequency increased by 10.93% to 2.39 million transactions from the previous 2.15 million.
IDX market capitalisation also grew by 1.47% to Rp 11,599 trillion from Rp 11,431 trillion the previous week. Regarding foreign investors, the IDX recorded a net sell value of Rp 29.76 billion throughout last week. Consequently, cumulatively since the beginning of 2026, foreign investors have recorded a net sell value of Rp 68.05 trillion.
This surge in trading activity occurs amidst various efforts by the IDX to strengthen the capital market ecosystem, including market connectivity, securities supply, and the expansion of the investor base. One such effort involves exploring connectivity with global markets. On Tuesday (1/9), the IDX, together with AlpacaDB, Inc., signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the IDX Main Hall in Jakarta.
This collaboration serves as an initial step to exchange knowledge and explore opportunities to expand cross-border capital market access. One aspect being studied is the potential access for Exchange Members to overseas securities markets through the Overseas Order Forwarding (PALN) mechanism. The IDX will subsequently coordinate with the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Exchange Members, and relevant stakeholders to study a mechanism that meets market needs and applicable regulations.
Regarding securities supply, the IDX also continues to encourage potential companies to enter the capital market through Initial Public Offerings (IPOs). On Monday (31/8), the IDX, alongside the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (KemenUMKM) and PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, held the ‘Go Public: RISE to Initial Public Offering (IPO)’ workshop in Bandung.
West Java itself is one of the regions with a large investor base. As of July 2026, the number of investors in the province reached 3,985,667 Single Investor Identifications (SID).
Next week, the IDX will host ‘Public Expose Live 2026’, organised by the IDX together with the Self-Regulatory Organisations (SRO) from 7–11 September 2026. A total of 45 listed companies are scheduled to present information regarding their performance, strategy, and business prospects directly to investors in a virtual format. The event will also include press conferences for listed companies for the media.
Public Expose Live 2026 is open to the public, including investors and prospective investors, free of charge via registration on the official event website.
