IDX Reveals 327 Issuers Yet to Meet 15% Free Float Rule
The Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) has disclosed that 327 listed companies, or approximately 35.82 per cent, have not yet met the minimum free float requirement of 15 per cent as of the end of May 2026. BEI Director of Corporate Assessment Saidu Solihin confirmed the bourse will continue to update the data, following the receipt of the Monthly Share Ownership Registration Report as of 30 June 2026, which must be submitted by 10 July 2026 at the latest. “Based on provisional data from the Monthly Share Ownership Registration Report of Listed Companies as of 31 May 2026, there are 327 listed companies, or 35.82 per cent, that have not met the minimum 15 per cent free float requirement. This number has not changed significantly from the period of 31 March 2026, which was 323 listed companies,” Saidu told journalists at the BEI building in Jakarta on Thursday. To encourage compliance with the free float regulation, the BEI has undertaken various efforts, including socialising the amendment to Regulation I-A, issuing transition period reminders to issuers, and conducting routine socialisation for companies that have not yet met the free float requirement. In addition, the BEI has established a Free Float Monitoring Task Force involving the BEI, the Indonesian Central Securities Depository (KSEI), the Indonesian Public Listed Companies Association (AEI), and the Indonesian Securities Companies Association (APEI). “The bourse continues to support the fulfilment of free float requirements by listed companies,” Saidu stated. Furthermore, the BEI will hold another Public Expose Live in September 2026, along with a roadshow for listed companies to meet domestic and international investors starting in August 2026, in order to encourage increased public ownership. The BEI has provided an adequate transition period for issuers to meet the minimum free float requirement, with compliance to be carried out in stages based on share capitalisation value as of 31 March 2026. Issuers with a minimum market capitalisation of Rp5 trillion, and which currently have a free float level below 12.5 per cent, are required to meet a free float of 12.5 per cent by 31 March 2027 at the latest, and to fulfil the 15 per cent free float requirement by 31 March 2028 at the latest. Meanwhile, issuers that currently have a free float level of between 12.5 per cent and 15 per cent must meet the 15 per cent free float requirement by 31 March 2027 at the latest. Issuers with a market capitalisation below Rp5 trillion may fulfil the 15 per cent free float requirement by 31 March 2029 at the latest.
