The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) has recorded an addition of approximately 9.9 million capital market investors over a period of 7.5 months in 2026, bringing the total number of investors to around 30.2 million. IDX President Director Jeffrey Hendrik stated that this addition is the highest in the history of the Indonesian capital market. “The addition of 9.9 million investors is the highest growth in the history of the Indonesian capital market,” said Jeffrey during a press conference commemorating the 49th anniversary of the reactivation of the Indonesian capital market in Jakarta on Monday. Based on the IDX presentation, the number of capital market investors reached approximately 30.27 million as of 7 August 2026, an increase from around 20.34 million in 2025. The growth in the investor base occurred amidst the pressures faced by the domestic capital market throughout the year. As of 7 August 2026, the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) had corrected by 25.87 percent year-to-date. Nevertheless, the average daily transaction value for shares was recorded at Rp22.3 trillion, while the number of listed companies reached 962, with seven new initial public offerings (IPOs) throughout 2026 up to 7 August.
