The issuance of structured warrants in the Indonesian capital market has reached 679 series, with a transaction value of approximately Rp4.18 trillion as of 16 September 2026, four years after the instrument was first launched.

Iding Paridi, Director of Development at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), stated that structured warrants continue to evolve and are becoming a viable alternative investment instrument for investors. “Since its first issuance in 2022, structured warrants have shown very significant development,” Iding remarked during the 2026 Indonesia Structured Warrant Day (HWTI) commemoration at the IDX Main Hall, Jakarta, on Saturday (19/9/2026).

He noted that this progress is reflected in the increasing number of issuances and transaction values over the last four years. In 2022, there were 13 series of structured warrants with a transaction value reaching Rp194 billion as of 31 December 2022. This number has since grown to 679 series with a transaction value of around Rp4.18 trillion as of 16 September 2026.

According to Iding, education and socialisation are vital components in the development of structured warrants to enhance investor understanding and broaden public awareness of capital market products. “Educational and socialisation activities, such as the one held today, play a crucial role in increasing investor comprehension and expanding awareness of capital market products,” he said.

He added that structured warrants can be used by investors to implement investment strategies tailored to their specific objectives and risk profiles.

Meanwhile, Kenneth Zhao, Head of Equity Derivatives at PT RHB Sekuritas Indonesia, stated that structured warrants possess several characteristics that support investor portfolio diversification. “In short, there are several advantages for structured warrant investors, namely lower investment capital, the use of leverage, limited losses capped at the initial capital, the presence of liquidity providers to ensure market liquidity, and cash payments upon maturity if the structured warrant is in-the-money,” Kenneth explained.

Structured warrants were first introduced to the Indonesian capital market on 19 September 2022, with RHB Sekuritas Indonesia acting as the pioneer issuer. In its development, RHB Sekuritas Indonesia has also collaborated with several selling agents to expand investor access. Currently, three securities firms acting as selling agents are Mirae Asset Sekuritas, Mandiri Sekuritas, and Trimegah Sekuritas.

The IDX, alongside RHB Sekuritas Indonesia, organised HWTI 2026 to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the launch of structured warrants while simultaneously increasing literacy, understanding, and investor participation in the instrument.
