The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) is targeting the launch of a Gold Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) investment instrument on 10 August 2026, coinciding with the 49th anniversary of the Indonesian capital market.

IDX Development Director Iding Pardi revealed that there are currently close to ten Exchange Members preparing to issue Gold ETF products.

“God willing, it will be launched on the capital market’s anniversary on 10 August 2026. We hope so, please pray for it,” said Iding when met by journalists at the IDX building in Jakarta on Thursday.

IDX Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Hendrik explained that the regulations for the Gold ETF investment instrument have been issued and have received approval from the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).

He revealed that seven Investment Managers have already submitted applications for preliminary listing agreements for the Gold ETF, as an initial step towards issuing the product.

“For its issuance, there are currently seven investment managers that have submitted applications for the Gold ETF preliminary listing agreement to the Indonesia Stock Exchange,” Jeffrey said.

Meanwhile, Chair of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Friderica Widyasari Dewi, also known as Kiki, has proposed the provision of incentives for new products in the financial services sector to the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, during their meeting on Tuesday (14 July) last week.

One of the requested incentives is for the Gold ETF investment instrument, which will soon be launched by the IDX.

“We are requesting several incentives for new products in the financial services sector market, such as the gold ETF,” Kiki said.

For information, the Gold ETF is an investment instrument in the form of a mutual fund traded on the stock exchange, with gold as its underlying asset. Through this product, investors can gain exposure to gold price movements without having to buy or store physical gold directly.
