TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) has revealed that over 10 investment managers have expressed interest in issuing gold Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) products. IDX Corporate Secretary Kautsar Primadi Nurahmad stated that several investment managers have already signed cooperation agreements with key stakeholders within the gold ETF ecosystem.

“From the perspective of industry readiness, market interest in this product is quite high,” Kautsar told Tempo on Sunday, April 19, 2026.

To facilitate the issuance of these gold ETFs, the IDX is currently adjusting regulations that are expected to come into effect shortly.

Kautsar explained that the development of gold ETFs is presently in its pre-launch phase. The current progress includes the structuring of product and business models, the preparation of supporting ecosystems, ranging from investment managers to participating dealers, and the finalization of regulatory aspects at the Self-Regulatory Organization (SRO) and operational levels.

The Financial Services Authority (OJK) aims to have gold-based ETF products launched by the second quarter of 2026. Hasan Fawzi, Head of the Executive Board for Capital Market Supervision, Financial Derivatives, and Carbon Exchange at OJK, stated that all stakeholders are currently finalizing preparations for the debut.

“Considering the current progress, our target indicates that the launch can proceed within the first half of 2026, specifically in Q2,” Hasan said during a virtual press conference on Monday, April 6, 2026.

The OJK has already established the necessary legal framework through OJK Regulation Number 2 of 2026. This regulation governs Collective Investment Contract-based Mutual Funds with Units of Participation Traded on the Stock Exchange featuring gold as the underlying asset.
