The IDX (IHSG) opened stronger by 5 points or 0.09 per cent at the 6,446 level at the start of trading on Monday, 21 September 2026.

Fanny Suherman, Head of Retail Research Analyst, predicts that the IHSG is poised for a rebound during today’s trading session. “The IHSG today has the potential for a technical rebound in the 6,500-6,550 range,” Suherman stated in his daily research report on Monday.

Asian markets strengthened during trading last Friday, while the US dollar remained stable and the Yen weakened. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 index surged 1.4 per cent, while the Topix declined by 0.07 per cent. Meanwhile, the Bank of Japan (BoJ) decided to raise its benchmark interest rate by 25 bps to 1.25 per cent.

“This monetary tightening was implemented following increased inflation risks and policy pressures from the US,” Suherman noted in his report.

On the other hand, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 0.6 per cent, Taiwan’s Taiex increased by 1.9 per cent, and South Korea’s Kospi jumped 2.7 per cent, while Australia’s ASX 200 fell slightly by 0.01 per cent. Additionally, the Straits Times dropped 0.08 per cent and the FTSE Malaysia weakened by 0.55 per cent.

Brent crude oil prices fell by almost 1 per cent to US$103.87/bbl. The decline occurred following hopes for alternative routes to supply oil from the Middle East to global markets. However, supply disruption risks remain a concern, as the conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Houthi group in Yemen continues.

Domestically, Bank Indonesia’s (BI) Monetary Policy Committee (RDG) is scheduled to convene again on 22-23 September 2026. Consensus estimates suggest that BI will maintain its benchmark interest rate at 5.75 per cent, even though the Federal Reserve recently raised its interest rate by 25 bps to 3.75-4.00 per cent.

“Support for the IHSG is at the 6,400-6,320 level, while resistance is in the 6,500-6,550 range,” he added.

For context, Wall Street closed last Friday’s trading with mixed movements after a volatile week. Inflation concerns have resurfaced for investors as US Treasury yields breached 5 per cent while crude oil prices remained above US$100/bbl.

The Dow Jones index fell 95.40 points (0.18 per cent); the S&P 500 rose 12.74 points (0.17 per cent); and the Nasdaq Composite gained 104.25 points (0.40 per cent). Meanwhile, inflation fears remain a primary market concern, as crude oil prices hold steady above US$100/bbl.
