IDX: IPO Preparation Should Not Wait for Ideal Market Momentum
The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) has emphasised that companies do not need to wait for ideal market conditions to prepare for an initial public offering (IPO). Amid global economic uncertainty, IPO preparations should instead be carried out early by strengthening corporate governance and business foundations.
IDX Vice Director of Listed Companies Development Listyorini Dian Pratiwi stated that the business world is still facing various challenges, ranging from geopolitical tensions, global supply chain disruptions, and exchange rate pressures, to international economic uncertainty. Despite these conditions, the importance of preparing for an IPO remains undiminished.
“IPO is indeed influenced by momentum. However, it is never too early to prepare for an IPO, so preparations can still be carried out under any conditions,” Listyorini said in an official statement on Friday (12/6/2026).
According to her, the process towards an IPO is not solely related to funding needs. The preparation also encompasses the company’s overall readiness, from business and operational aspects, accounting, and legal matters, to corporate governance.
Listyorini added that investors today are not only paying attention to a company’s growth prospects but are also increasingly focused on transparency, accountability, and business sustainability. Therefore, the implementation of good corporate governance is a crucial factor in attracting investor interest.
In addition to governance, the investor relations function is also considered to have a strategic role in building communication between the company and investors. “I always use the analogy, no matter how big the fish in the pond, if it is never shown, it will not be seen. The investor relations function is important so that the company’s achievements and positive aspects can be properly communicated to investors,” she said.
Meanwhile, SW Indonesia CEO Michell Suharli assessed that IPO Readiness has a broader meaning than simply preparing a company to list on the stock exchange. According to Michell, IPO Readiness is a transformation process that encourages a company to become healthier, more professional, and sustainable. “IPO Readiness is not a cost. IPO Readiness is an investment. An investment to build a stronger company, a stronger economy, and a stronger Indonesia,” Michell said.
