IDX Demutualisation: Will Danantara Join in Buying Shares?
The demutualisation of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) will soon be finalised. The Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) will also participate in investing in the domestic stock exchange. BPI Danantara Chief Investment Officer Pandu Sjahrir stated that the agency is currently coordinating with the IDX and the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The involvement will be carried out through Danantara Investment Management (DIM). ‘We are currently communicating and providing direction for DIM to execute the investment for the demutualisation,’ he said when met at the Indonesia Stock Exchange building on Monday. The demutualisation of the IDX is targeted for completion soon, by September 2026. However, Pandu could not yet disclose the specific details regarding Danantara’s investment portion in the IDX. ‘We hope it can be completed in the next few months. We will share the details with everyone shortly,’ he said. The demutualisation of the IDX is part of the mandate under the Financial Sector Development and Strengthening Law (UU P2SK). Under the regulation, three state institutions are permitted to become shareholders of the IDX: the Ministry of Finance, Bank Indonesia, and BPI Danantara.
