IDX Confirms Ongoing Communication with MSCI After August Review
Jakarta - Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) President Director Jeffrey Hendrik has confirmed that the exchange will continue to communicate with MSCI Inc., after the global index provider announced its latest index review for the August 2026 period. “Our communication with MSCI will certainly continue,” Jeffrey told the media in Jakarta on Thursday. He also assured that communication would be maintained with market participants and investors at the global level, as an effort to preserve and enhance their confidence in the Indonesian capital market. “Likewise, communication with global investors,” Jeffrey said. As with previous index reviews, he believes that MSCI uses public information disclosures that have been submitted by the IDX, such as High Shareholding Concentration (HSC) and share ownership above 1 percent. “This rebalancing is carried out periodically by MSCI. And like the previous rebalancing process, MSCI also uses public information disclosures submitted by the IDX, such as HSC and 1 percent share ownership,” Jeffrey stated. On Thursday morning, MSCI Inc. announced the MSCI Equity Indexes August 2026 Index Review, with all changes to be implemented as of the close of trading on 31 August 2026, and effective on 1 September 2026. While one stock was moved to the MSCI Global Small Cap Index category, MSCI removed nine Indonesian stocks from this index. MSCI will next announce its index review on 11 November 2026, with an effective date of 1 December 2026. The MSCI Index Review is a periodic quarterly index review conducted by MSCI to adjust weightings, add, or remove global stock constituents in its benchmark index portfolios.
