The Indonesia Composite Index (IHSG) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) started trading on Monday (5/10/2026) with gains. The IHSG rose by 18.27 points, or 0.30 per cent, to the position of 6,055.16.
Strengthening was also observed in the group of 45 blue-chip stocks comprising the LQ45 Index. This index rose by 1.90 points, or 0.32 per cent, to the position of 597.36.
Today’s movement of the IHSG continues the gains seen during Friday’s trading, 2 October 2026. At the close of last week’s trading, the IHSG finished up 27.39 points, or 0.46 per cent, at 6,036.89. The LQ45 Index also strengthened on Friday by 3.08 points, or 0.52 per cent, to 595.46.
Ratna Lim, Head of Research at Phintraco Sekuritas, estimated in her analysis that the IHSG has the potential to move sideways with a bullish tendency this week. The IHSG is projected to remain within the range of 6,000 to 6,200.
Market participants will also be closely watching several domestic economic data sets scheduled for release throughout the week. This data includes foreign exchange reserves on Wednesday, 7 October; the consumer confidence index on Thursday, 8 October; as well as retail and automotive sales data on Friday, 9 October.
In addition to domestic factors, the stock market continues to face sentiment from global and geopolitical developments. Asian regional exchanges moved variably with a downward trend in previous trading.
One area of market concern stems from the developments of the conflict in the Middle East. The United States is considering the deployment of aircraft carriers and additional troops to the region, which is assessed as having the potential to increase tensions with Iran.
Maximilianus Nico Demus, Associate Director of Research and Investment, stated in his analysis that such plans trigger concerns regarding the potential escalation of conflict between the US and Iran, as well as disruptions to regional energy supplies. These conditions could affect global oil prices. Rising oil prices could potentially exert pressure on inflation if geopolitical tensions increase and energy supplies are disrupted.
During Friday’s trading, the IHSG briefly entered the red zone. The index weakened by 0.32 per cent in the first session before reversing to gain strength in the second session, eventually closing at the 6,036.89 level.
From a sectoral perspective, eight sectors strengthened during Friday’s trading. The technology sector was the largest gainer with an increase of 1.51 per cent, followed by the energy sector at 1.12 per cent.
Consumer staples rose by 0.67 per cent, basic materials by 0.47 per cent, property by 0.40 per cent, healthcare by 0.20 per cent, and finance by 0.20 per cent.
