IDX and OJK Papua Strengthen Investment Literacy for Consultant Business Resilience
The Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) Papua Representative Office, together with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Provincial Board of the Indonesian National Consultants Association (INKINDO) Papua, has collaborated to expand investment literacy. This step aims to improve understanding of investment strategies and corporate financial management to strengthen the business resilience of consultants in the region.
Head of the BEI Papua Representative Office, Kresna A. Payokwa, in Jayapura on Friday, emphasised that consulting firms require mature financial management strategies. This is important so they can face various business challenges, such as dependence on government projects, payment delays, cash flow fluctuations, and rising operational costs.
“For this reason, together with OJK Papua, we are providing strategic steps to expand financial literacy and encourage more planned, prudent, and responsible corporate financial management,” said Kresna after the event in Jayapura City, Friday.
In the education session, companies were encouraged to separate operational funds, emergency funds, and investment funds. According to Kresna, this separation allows financial management to be carried out in a more measured manner according to each company’s objectives, time horizon, and risk profile.
“Therefore, through this education, we introduced various investment instruments in the capital market,” he explained. The instruments introduced included mutual funds, government bonds, corporate bonds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and shares. Understanding the relationship between risk and potential returns was also a key focus.
In addition to introducing instruments, companies were reminded not to use operational funds for high-risk investments. They were urged not to make investment decisions merely by following momentary trends. The application of investment diversification was strongly emphasised as a strategy to minimise the risk of loss.
“We hope that collaborations like this can continue so that more business actors in Papua understand the importance of financial management and investing legally, safely, and according to their risk profile,” said Kresna.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of DPP INKINDO Papua, Novisca M. Anditiaman, welcomed the activity. She assessed that the education was crucial for INKINDO members in strengthening the capacity and financial resilience of their companies.
“We hope that BEI, OJK Papua, and stakeholders can continue to provide education and assistance regarding legal, safe financial management and investment that matches risk profiles,” said Novisca.
