The courtyard of Semarang City Hall was filled with thousands of residents participating in Eid al-Fitr prayers for 1447 Hijriah. This moment served not only as an occasion for worship but also to strengthen ties between the government and the community in the warm atmosphere of Lebaran. The Semarang City Government (Pemkot) once again held the joint Eid prayer as an annual agenda eagerly awaited by residents. In addition to the worship, the event included a simple meet-and-greet that brought a sense of togetherness. Semarang Mayor Agustina Wilujeng expressed her gratitude for the community’s enthusiasm in attending. “We thank the public for turning out in such large numbers. This is a moment for mutual forgiveness and strengthening togetherness,” Agustina stated in a written remark on Saturday (21/3/2026). “The atmosphere is very warm,” she added. Agustina noted that the event was also attended by various community elements across religions, community figures, and members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda). According to Agustina, this demonstrated the strong tolerance and unity in Semarang City. “All elements are present, from religious leaders to the general public. This shows Semarang as a harmonious city full of togetherness,” said Agustina. After the Eid prayer, residents had the opportunity to engage directly with the mayor, deputy mayor, and local government officials. The government also provided a simple breakfast for the attendees. Amid the Lebaran momentum, Agustina assured that public services would continue to operate, even though some apparatus were on a flexible work system. “Services to the public remain open according to schedule. If there are urgent needs, we are ready to serve,” Agustina emphasised. Agustina also invited the public and holiday returnees to enjoy various tourist destinations in Semarang City that remain open during the Lebaran holiday, such as the Kota Lama area to Lawang Sewu. “Please stop by and enjoy Semarang City. There are many interesting places and culinary options that remain open during Lebaran,” said Agustina. On the other hand, Agustina reminded the public to maintain safety during travel, especially for those returning home by motorbike. “Prioritise safety, obey traffic rules, and do not forget to enjoy moments of happiness with family,” Agustina advised. The residents’ enthusiasm was evident from the happy faces filling the city hall courtyard since morning. One resident, Filda, said it was her first time attending Eid prayer at the location. “This is the first time I have prayed Eid at City Hall. The atmosphere is very warm, lively, and enjoyable,” Filda revealed. “I also got to shake hands directly with the Mayor and Deputy Mayor,” she added.
