Iduladha Celebrations in IKN: Thousands of Sacrificial Meat Packages Distributed to Community and Workers
Thousands of sacrificial meat packages were distributed to communities around the new capital city (IKN) and construction workers in the IKN development area during the Iduladha 1447 Hijriah celebrations in 2026. Following the inaugural Iduladha prayer organised by the IKN Authority at the National Mosque on Wednesday (27 May), the sermon was delivered by Ketua Forum Ulama Umat Indonesia Ust. KH. Athian Ali, who stated that believers face trials from Allah SWT and that a Muslim’s faith is measured by their love for Allah SWT surpassing their love for the world and all its contents. After the prayer, the distribution of sacrificial animals took place. This year, 29 cows and nine goats were collected from donors, including two cows donated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia and one by the Vice President. Thirteen cows were distributed to districts within the IKN delineation area. IKN Authority Chief Basuki Hadimuljono also participated as a donor, contributing one cow. “Today we performed the Iduladha prayer at the IKN National Mosque followed by the sacrificial slaughter. May this be an act of worship for all of us. All the sacrificial offerings are from the community for the community,” said Basuki. An estimated 4,895 meat packages will be allocated to residents in nine villages and neighbourhoods around IKN, while 1,090 packages were distributed to workers at the Central Government Area (KIPP), including cleaning staff, security personnel, receptionists, construction workers, and non-construction workers. The remaining meat packages were given to donors, the sacrifice committee, and support staff at the National Mosque, Basilica Nusantara, Nusantara City Hall, Nusantara General Hospital, and Bank Indonesia’s office complex. The IKN sacrifice event also involved local farmers. Rosibul Aklil, a farmer from Samboja, said the purchase of livestock for sacrifices benefited his business. “Alhamdulillah, our livestock was purchased by the IKN Authority for three to four cows. This has been very helpful. Thank you for facilitating the fattening of our livestock in Samboja,” he said. The inaugural Iduladha celebration at the IKN National Mosque is part of religious activities in Nusantara while providing benefits to local communities and workers through the distribution of sacrificial animals and meat.
