Mayor Munafri Arifuddin, accompanied by TP PKK Makassar Chairperson Melinda Aksa, observed the sacrificial slaughter of Eid al-Adha 2026 livestock donated by President Prabowo Subianto at At-Taqwa Mosque in Wajo District on Wednesday, 27 May. The ceremony attracted enthusiastic crowds who gathered early to witness the slaughter of a 923-kilogram Simmental bull. Mayor Munafri expressed gratitude for the government’s support in providing sacrificial animals to Makassar residents.

Munafri stated that the livestock distribution reflects the government’s concern for citizens during Eid al-Adha. ‘We extend our deepest gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, particularly President Prabowo Subianto, for providing sacrificial animals to Makassar residents,’ he said. He explained that the animals have been received by the community, slaughtered, and will be distributed to those in need, especially in Wajo District. ‘The meat will be divided among Makassar residents today. May this bring blessings to all,’ he added.

He expressed hope that this year’s Eid al-Adha would strengthen social compassion and unity. ‘We hope this assistance is distributed accurately and benefits the local community,’ he said.

For Eid al-Adha 1447 H, Makassar distributed 7,261 cattle and 402 goats across 15 districts. According to Munafri, this demonstrates the high level of community and government empathy. ‘This is a manifestation of our care and empathy towards the public,’ he said.

He stressed that targeted distribution is part of social development efforts and tangible government support for those in need during the festive season. Munafri urged for the process to be conducted properly, transparently, honestly, and accurately to eligible recipients. ‘Distribution must be carried out fairly; it must not compromise social justice or discriminate against those entitled to receive it,’ he stated. ‘We hope the distribution proceeds with honesty, fairness, and without discrimination among deserving beneficiaries,’ he concluded.
