Idul Fitri Courtesy Visit: Cardinal Suharyo Visits Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar
A warm moment coloured the celebration of Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah through the interfaith friendships that have been established over many years.
This warmth was evident when Cardinal Ignatius Suharyo, as Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Jakarta, paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, who is also the Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque, Nasaruddin Umar, on Saturday (21/3/2026) at 09.30 WIB.
Based on a post from the Public Relations of the Archdiocese of Jakarta, the two figures appeared to greet and embrace each other in an atmosphere full of familiarity to celebrate Idul Fitri 2026.

With the routine of mutual visits, greetings, congratulations, and exchanging stories between two friends,” read the post from the official Instagram account of the Public Relations of the Archdiocese of Jakarta, quoted on Sunday (22/3/2026).
On this occasion, Cardinal Suharyo was accompanied by Father Macarius Maharsono, SJ, as the Head Pastor of Jakarta Cathedral Church, as well as Susyana Suwadie from the Public Relations of the Archdiocese of Jakarta and Jakarta Cathedral Church.
The meeting took place in a familiar and familial atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of brotherhood that continues to be nurtured through interfaith dialogue and courtesy visits.
Through this Idul Fitri moment, the Archdiocese of Jakarta also conveyed greetings for Eid al-Fitr 1447 H, minal aidin wal faizin, apologies for both physical and spiritual shortcomings, as a form of respect while strengthening inter-religious friendships.
