YOGYAKARTA – The Chairman of the Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah, Prof Haedar Nashir, urged the Muslim community to make the momentum of Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriyah a starting point for strengthening social care and building cross-border brotherhood. This message was delivered by Haedar during the Idul Fitri Reflection on Thursday (19/3/2026), ahead of the Idul Fitri celebration determined by Muhammadiyah to fall on Friday (20/3/2026). According to Haedar, Idul Fitri is not merely a celebration of spiritual victory, but also a moment to strengthen “social network security” through attitudes of sharing and caring, both at the national and global levels. He emphasised that this care needs to reach the wider community without barriers, including to brothers and sisters in various parts of the world such as Palestine and Iran who require humanitarian assistance. “Giving is a call from the spirit of our Islam for anyone without discrimination based on tribe, religion, race, group, and nation. And that is what we must live out after the month of Ramadan,” said Haedar in a written statement received by Republika.co.id on Thursday (19/3/2026). In addition to social care, Haedar also emphasised the importance of maintaining the values forged during Ramadan, one of which is the ability to restrain anger. He reminded that the trait of anger is human, but it must not develop into excessive behaviour.
