Idul Adha 2026 Holiday: Bandung Remains Top Destination as KAI Daop 2 Passenger Numbers Surge

Bandung remains a top destination for the public during the extended Idul Adha 2026 holiday. According to data from PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operational Division 2 Bandung, there was a significant surge in rail passengers entering and exiting the region. KAI Division 2 Bandung’s Head of Public Relations, Kuswardojo, stated that as of Sunday, May 31, 119,913 passengers had arrived at stations within the Daop 2 Bandung area, accumulated over a seven-day holiday period from May 26 to June 1, 2026. Of these arrivals, the majority headed to Bandung’s city centre, with 61,254 passengers landing at the two main stations: Bandung Station and Kiaracondong Station. By Sunday afternoon, 7,478 passengers arrived at Bandung Station and 3,407 at Kiaracondong Station. Kuswardojo added, “By yesterday afternoon, 119,913 passengers had arrived at stations across the Daop 2 Bandung region, with over 61,000 using Bandung and Kiaracondong stations.” Beyond arrivals, demand for train travel out of Bandung was also strong. KAI Daop 2 Bandung reported ticket sales reaching 116,860, exceeding the available seating capacity of 102,186 seats by 114.4%. Kuswardojo explained that the occupancy rate exceeding 100% was due to dynamic seating arrangements. “This means a single seat can be used by multiple passengers on different route segments and intermediate stations along the journey. We thank all passengers for entrusting their travel to us,” he concluded. KAI Daop 2 Bandung provided 102,186 seats for the Idul Adha 2026 holiday period, with daily occupancy reaching 102% and additional tickets issued for the Bandung-Solo route. Infrastructure improvements are focused on high-frequency routes, including the Lebakjero–Leles, Leles–Karangsari, and Karangsari–Cibatu sections. Insufficient safety infrastructure and low discipline directly correlate with accident rates. A collision between the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and a Commuter Line service in East Bekasi caused some Argo Parahyangan services to be cancelled. Capacity was provided through 28 daily train services: 24 regular and 4 additional.
