Jakarta - The Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM, Todotua Pasaribu, revealed that Indonesia had lost potential investment of IDR 1.5 quadrillion. One of the reasons for the failure of this investment to materialise was the complex business licensing process in the past.

Most corporations that had initiated the business licensing process through the One Single Submission (OSS) system only managed to obtain their Business Identification Number (NIB) and Indonesian Standard Industrial Classification (KBLI). However, there were still many stages to go through before obtaining an operating permit.

“Investment commitments are there, but the realisation reports are not, this is because it has not been executed. And one of the contributing factors is the sector of licensing services,” said Todotua at the BKPM office, Jakarta, Thursday (26/2/2026).

“When talking about investment, one of the parameters we always use for comparison is Vietnam,” he said.
