IDM Invites Public to Embrace Independence by Loving Cultural Heritage

InJourney Destination Management (IDM) is inviting the public to interpret independence not only as a ceremonial celebration but also as a momentum to further cherish the nation’s cultural heritage and strengthen pride in Indonesian identity. IDM President Director Febrina Intan stated in Yogyakarta on Monday that, in conjunction with the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, IDM is presenting a series of activations titled ‘Jejak Peradaban Kebanggaan Bangsa’ (Traces of Civilisation, National Pride) under the theme ‘Walau Beda Cara Menjaga Budaya, Tetap Berbagi Cinta untuk Indonesia’ (Different Ways to Preserve Culture, Yet Sharing Love for Indonesia) at the Borobudur Temple, Prambanan Temple, Ratu Boko Palace, and Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) destinations. Embracing the spirit of ‘A Sovereign, Just and Prosperous Indonesia’, this programme series provides a space for the public to celebrate independence through meaningful tourism experiences encompassing culture, sports, education, and community empowerment. As the main programme within the #AgustusandiCandi series, IDM is offering a ‘Promo Geden Kemerdekaan’ (Grand Independence Promo) in the form of an 81% discount on entrance tickets for visitors wearing red and white attire when visiting Borobudur Temple, Prambanan Temple, and Ratu Boko Palace. To create an independence atmosphere, the entire Borobudur Temple, Prambanan Temple, and Ratu Boko Palace areas will be adorned with thematic decorations, including woven bamboo installations bearing the inscription ‘81 Indonesia Berdaulat, Adil dan Makmur’ (81 Indonesia Sovereign, Just and Prosperous), complemented by the installation of Red and White flags at various points across the destinations. On 17 August 2026, the visitor experience will also be enhanced through customer experience initiatives featuring frontliners dressed in red and white themed attire, with female staff wearing kebaya or lurik and male staff wearing beskap, lurik, or batik in red and white hues, complete with Red and White pins as a symbol of nationalistic spirit and wholehearted service. Febrina added that to welcome this special occasion, IDM is also organising various sporting activities combined with the beauty of the heritage landscape through the ‘Move at The Temple’ programme. On 16 August 2026, Ratu Boko Palace will host ‘Move at The Temple: Merdeka Dalam Harmoni’, a morning yoga session inviting participants to enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of the heritage site while welcoming Independence Day with self-reflection and a spirit of togetherness. Meanwhile, Borobudur Temple will hold ‘Move at The Temple: Road to Borobudur Marathon’ on 30 August 2026, as part of efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle while introducing the cultural landscape of Borobudur through sporting activities.
