From Neraca
In connection with the beating of a physician performing his
professional duties at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Jakarta, the
Executive Board of the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) would
like to state the following:
1. A physician does a noble job and always upholds humanitarian
values. He carries out his duty on the basis of the principle of
maintaining the noble dignity of the medical profession in
accordance with the physicians' oath and the medical code of
conduct. In the area of forensic medicine, this noble duty is
always carried out on the basis of the legal interest (pro
justicia) as requested by the authorities.
2. To our victimized colleagues, please note that we share your
sufferings. We hope that you can be patient until this matter is
settled by the authorities.
3. To ensure that similar incidents will not reoccur, we call on
the authorities to settle this matter in accordance with the
prevailing regulations.
4. We would like to call on the government institution where the
physicians perform their professional duties to take action as
soon as possible to avoid uncalled for consequences and prevent
this incident from escalating.
