IDI ties up with Allianz

JAKARTA (JP): Insurance firm PT Asuransi Allianz Life Indonesia signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Tuesday with the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) to cooperate in providing medical services to the public.

The MOU was signed by Allianz Life's president Frank R. Levene and IDI chairman HM Ahmad Djojosugito.

Frank R. Levene said that under the MOU, IDI and Allianz would develop a network of health clinics across the country, which would be called pemberi pelayanan kesehatan (PPK), to provide medical services.

The clinics will give free medical care to policyholders of Allianz's Managed Care, according to Handoyo G. Kusuma, Allianz Life director for marketing and employee benefit.

Managed Care is a health insurance scheme. The employees of companies which take out a policy will be entitled to free hospital treatment, immunization and other health treatment.

According to Ahmad, the clinics will be co-owned by Allianz and IDI's doctor members.

IDI's branches in Jakarta, Bekasi, Tangerang, Bogor and Cilegon are ready to establish clinics, he said.

Clinics will also be established in other cities, he added.

Both IDI and Allianz refused to reveal the amount invested to develop the scheme.

Levene said that both sides would establish a joint medical advisory board which would set standards for good quality medical treatment as well as prices.

The board will regularly publish guidelines of standard medical practices, he added.

Allianz Life Indonesia is a subsidiary of German giant insurance firm Allianz Group. It has 70,000 policyholders in Indonesia.

The company said it was aiming to increase the number of its policyholders to 100,000 this year. (05)
