The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) has expressed deep condolences over the death of one TNI soldier during a peacekeeping mission in southern Lebanon. At the same time, three other TNI soldiers were injured amid rising security escalations in the area.

Head of the TNI Headquarters Information Centre, Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, stated that the incident occurred on Sunday, 29 March 2026, in the area of operations of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

“TNI expresses profound condolences over the death of one TNI soldier and the casualties resulting from an incident in the UNIFIL operational area due to the escalation of the security situation,” Aulia said in an official statement on Monday, 30 March 2026.

Based on field reports, the incident affected soldiers from Company C of UNP 7-1 Task Force Mechanised Battalion (Satgas Yonmek) XXIII-S/UNIFIL. In the event, Sergeant Major (Praka) Farizal Rhomadhon was declared fallen. Meanwhile, Praka Rico Pramudia suffered severe injuries, while Prka Bayu Prakoso and Praka Arif Kurniawan sustained minor injuries.

The two soldiers with minor injuries have received treatment at UNIFIL Level I Hospital. The soldier with severe injuries was evacuated by helicopter to St. George Hospital in Beirut for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the body of Farizal Rhomadhon is currently laid to rest at the East Sector Headquarters and is being processed for repatriation to Indonesia with assistance from the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Beirut.

Aulia said the incident occurred amid artillery exchanges in the area. To date, it has not been confirmed which party directly caused the death of the TNI soldier. “The investigation process is still being conducted by UNIFIL,” he said.

In line with the increasing security escalation in Lebanon, Aulia stated that the TNI has heightened its alertness in accordance with standard operating procedures for the peacekeeping mission. Nevertheless, the TNI continues to carry out its duties in the global peacekeeping mission under the UN mandate, prioritising the safety of its soldiers and monitoring developments on the ground.
