Identity of Body Found in Tambun Kali, Bekasi Remains Unknown as Police Find Wounds on the Temples

BEKASI, KOMPAS.com – Police have found a number of injuries on the body of a man who was found floating in the flow of Kali Sekunder Perumahan VGH 5, Desa Satria Mekar, Tambun Utara District, Bekasi Regency. Police Chief Commissioner Wuriyanti said the injuries were identified after police carried out an external examination of the victim’s body. However, the exact cause of death cannot yet be determined. “There is a small wound on the right temple. There is also a laceration above the eyebrows, about one centimetre long, but not deep,” Wuriyanti said when contacted by Kompas.com on Friday (6 March 2026). “For the cause of death, it cannot be concluded yet. That must go through an autopsy, the forensic surgeon will provide the findings,” he said. Wuriyanti said the investigation process also faced obstacles due to the condition of the corpse which had entered the early stages of decomposition. Police had previously attempted to identify the victim through fingerprints using police identification equipment. However, that effort has not yielded results. “From the fingerprint identification, it is unreadable, or perhaps the deceased has never registered an e-KTP. This is a challenge,” said Wuriyanti. In addition, police also disseminated information through internal networks to search for possible missing-person reports that match the victim’s characteristics. “Yesterday there was information about a family leaving home, but after we cross-checked with the victim’s features, it turned out to be different,” said Wuriyanti. When found, the victim was wearing a batik shirt with the SMP 158 Jakarta Timur uniform and a grey T-shirt bearing the words “Family Gathering 2014 PT Mangul Jaya”. Police suspect the victim had died about three days before being found. Based on physical characteristics, the victim is about 170 centimetres tall and weighs around 80 kilograms, with straight hair cut neatly. Currently, police are focusing on identifying the victim to trace his last activities.
