Identity of Body Found at Lembar Port Revealed

The identity of a body found floating in the Lembar Port area, West Lombok, on Tuesday (18/8/2026) has been revealed. The victim was identified as Misbah (60), a resident of Cengguk Hamlet, Sesela Village, Gunungsari District, West Lombok.

Head of the Mataram SAR Office, Muhammad Hariady, said Misbah was a stevedore at Lembar Port. “Based on the post-mortem results from the doctor, he was one of the stevedores at Lembar Port. The location where he was found was still within the port basin,” he said at Lembar Port on Tuesday (18/8/2026).

Hariady confirmed that the body was not one of the four victims of the KMP Putri Yasmin passenger ferry who are still being searched for. “Regarding the discovery of the body, we can confirm that it is not one of the victims we are searching for,” said Hariady.

The body of Misbah is currently undergoing examination at NTB Provincial Hospital. Once the examination process is complete, the body is planned to be taken to the family home in Gunungsari.

It was previously reported that a body was found floating in the Lembar Port area on Tuesday. The body was found floating face down near the Lembar Port jetty. The body was first discovered by a fisherman who happened to be passing through the area.

The SAR team at Lembar Port then carried out an evacuation. At around 16.00 WITA, the body was successfully evacuated from the water. The body was then taken to NTB Provincial Hospital in Mataram City for further identification.

As is known, four victims of the KMP Putri Yasmin ferry that caught fire in the waters off Sekotong, West Lombok, are still declared missing. As of Tuesday (18/8/2026), the joint SAR team is still searching for the four victims.
