The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) is mourning the death of one soldier and injuries to three others on assignment with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) following an Israeli attack. The fallen TNI soldier, Praka Farizal Rhomadhon, is known to hail from Kulon Progo.

Praka Farizal served with Yonif 113/Jaya Sakti (JS), Brigade Infanteri (Brigif) 25/Siwah, Kodam Iskandar Muda, Aceh. He held the position of Taban Provost 1 in Ru Provost Kompi Markas (Kima) Yonif 113/JS.

“Based on reports from the area of operations, the incident affected TNI soldiers attached to Kompi C UNP 7-1 Satgas Yonmek XXIII-S/UNIFIL,” said Kapuspen TNI Mayjen Aulia Dwi Narsullah, as reported by detikNews on Monday (30/3/2026).

Praka Farizal is said to have left behind a wife and a two-year-old child.

The attack occurred due to escalation between the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) and Hezbollah near the UNIFIL headquarters on Sunday (29/3). The military escalation took place near Adchit Al Qusayr in southern Lebanon.

In addition to Praka Farizal, three other TNI soldiers were also injured. The three soldiers, part of the peacekeeping contingent, have received treatment.

“Praka Rico Pramudia sustained serious injuries, while Praka Bayu Prakoso and Praka Arif Kurniawan suffered minor injuries and are currently receiving medical attention,” he stated.

The two soldiers with minor injuries have been treated at Hospital Level I UNIFIL. Meanwhile, Praka Rico has been evacuated by helicopter to St. George Hospital in Beirut for further medical treatment.

Meanwhile, the body of Praka Farizal is being laid to rest at the East Sector Headquarters (HQ) and arrangements are being finalised for his repatriation to Indonesia with assistance from the Indonesian Embassy in Beirut.

“In line with the increasing escalation in Lebanon, the TNI has taken steps to enhance vigilance in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of UNIFIL. The incident occurred amid artillery exchanges, and it has not yet been determined which party directly caused the event. The investigation process is still being conducted by UNIFIL,” he said.

He added that the TNI is committed to carrying out its duties as part of the world’s peacekeeping mission under the United Nations (UN) mandate in a professional and responsible manner, while prioritising the safety of its soldiers. The TNI is also continuously monitoring developments on the ground and preparing contingency measures in accordance with the dynamics in the area of operations in Lebanon.

Praka Farizal from Kulon Progo

Meanwhile, Praka Farizal Rhomadhon is known to originate from Lendah, Kulon Progo. This was confirmed by Komandan Kodim 0731/Kulon Progo, Dyan Niti Sukma. He verified that the deceased victim was indeed Praka Farizal.

“Yes, yes, that’s correct,” said Letkol Dyan when contacted by reporters on Monday (30/3).

Praka Farizal is known to be a resident from Padukuhan Ledok, Sidorejo, Lendah, Kulon Progo. The late soldier was recorded as serving with Yonif 133/JS Brigif 25/Siwah Dam Iskandar Muda.

“Yes, according to the information received. In Lendah, yes, correct. He is from Kulon Progo,” he said.
