Identities of 3 Detainees Who Escaped from Pontianak Prosecutor's Office Revealed; 2 Already Apprehended
JAKARTA — The Head of the Legal Information Section of the West Kalimantan High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati), I Wayan, has revealed the identities of three detainees who escaped from the Pontianak District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari) detention cell on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
Two detainees have been apprehended: Anang Noor Asmady, also known as Anang bin Muhammad Noor, and Sri Iswanto, also known as Kipli bin M Jafar Sidik. The third fugitive still being pursued is Apriadi bin Suroto.
“We are still chasing one of them; hopefully by this afternoon we will have them in custody,” Wayan said when contacted by Kompas.com on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
Wayan stated that the two detainees were apprehended in Sintang following coordination between the prosecutor’s office and police.
“Following coordination between the Kejati team and police, we moved quickly and made arrests of two individuals today,” he said.
According to Wayan, Anang was charged with criminal assistance under Article 591(a) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP). Sri Iswanto is a suspect in a theft case prosecuted under Articles 477(1)(f) and (g) of Law Number 1 of 2023 regarding the KUHP. The third detainee still at large is also a suspect in a theft case.
Wayan attributed the escape to potential negligence during a period when 11 suspects were undergoing a second stage of processing, causing prosecutor’s office staff to move in and out of the detention area alternately.
“The essence is that there may have been an oversight because at that time 11 people were about to go through the second stage, so perhaps staff did not notice the movement, thinking someone was just going about their routine. Standard operating procedures already exist and are clear,” Wayan explained.
This incident was previously confirmed by the Head of the Legal Information Centre of the Attorney General’s Office, Anang Supriatna, who stated that two of the three escapees had already been captured, with one still being sought.
