IDD PIK 2 Takes 13 Indonesian Design Brands to Exhibition in Milan
Indonesia Design District (IDD) PIK 2 is bringing 13 Indonesian design brands to participate in the international exhibition Salone del Mobile Milano 2026, scheduled from 21 to 26 April 2026 in Milan, Italy. This participation serves as an effort to expand the exposure of works by Indonesian designers on the global stage.
CEO of IDD PIK 2, Ipeng Widjojo, stated that this involvement is part of the vision to promote Indonesian design products to become more widely known globally.
“We have a vision to create an ecosystem so that design products from Indonesia can be more widely recognised and go global,” said Ipeng at an event at Elmirai Showroom, PIK 2, on Thursday (9/4/2026).
He added that IDD aims to build an ecosystem that not only showcases works but also connects all elements of the design industry, from designers and brands to manufacturing, to compete in the international market.
For information, Salone del Mobile is known as one of the world’s largest furniture and design exhibitions, bringing together designers, brands, architects, and creative industry players from various countries. In this event, IDD PIK 2 presents the IDD Pavilion themed House of Indonesia, which highlights the concept of an integrated design ecosystem.
The IDD Pavilion features works from 13 Indonesian design brands curated by the IDD Pavilion curator, Alvin Tjitrowirjo. He explained that the curation process emphasises the diversity of designers’ abilities, from craftsmanship aspects to the design ideas they bring.
“Our curation strategy is to seek variations in existing expertise. The selected products are quite diverse to show the range of Indonesian designers’ capabilities, while creating harmony from that diversity,” said Alvin.
Meanwhile, the interior design of the IDD Pavilion is designed by Santi Alaysius from Domisilium Studio. She presents a space concept that highlights material exploration and visual narratives to represent the spirit of collaboration in Indonesia’s design ecosystem.
In addition to featuring 13 brands, several Indonesian designers will also participate in SaloneSatellite, a platform dedicated to young designers. Some of them include Studio Banda, Zulyo Kumara, and Cynthia Margaret. IDD is providing support in the process of shipping works to Milan.
Director of Architecture and Design at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sabar Norma Megawati Panjaitan, expressed her appreciation and pride in IDD PIK 2’s participation in bringing local designers to the international stage.
She assessed that this step shows that Indonesian design is increasingly gaining attention on the global stage, while also serving as evidence of government support in strengthening the national creative industry ecosystem.
“This participation is a source of pride and proof that the government continues to support Indonesian designers to perform and compete on the global stage,” said Sabar.
This participation also receives support from various parties, including the Ministry of Creative Economy, the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, Indonesia Design Development Centre (IDDC), Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Milan, and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Rome.
Through participation in Salone del Mobile Milano 2026, IDD PIK 2 is expected to open new collaboration opportunities while strengthening Indonesia’s position in the global design industry.
