Jakarta (ANTARA) - International Data Corporation (IDC), a technology market analysis firm, predicts that the global memory supply crisis will continue until 2027, potentially placing significant pressure on the computer and technology device industries.

IDC Research Manager for Worldwide Mobile Device Trackers Jitesh Ubrani stated that memory prices are unlikely to begin declining until 2028, with the market not expected to return to price levels seen in 2025.

“Memory shortages will continue until at least 2027. We expect prices to begin easing in 2028, but the market is unlikely to return to price levels seen in 2025,” Jitesh said, according to Engadget on Friday.

Beyond component supply challenges, IDC assesses that geopolitical tensions in the Middle East region, including in Iran, have the potential to worsen conditions across the computing and technology industries overall.

The report aligns with developments in the technology sector, where rising memory prices have already impacted several companies, including HP, Samsung, Valve, and Framework.

Memory component prices are likely to be felt by many more technology companies in the coming period, as several manufacturers have adjusted device pricing to offset increased production costs.
