State-owned food holding company ID FOOD officially launched its ‘Warung Pangan’ programme at Pasar Tebet Timur in South Jakarta on Monday. The initiative will sell affordable staple goods, including cooking oil, rice, sugar, flour, and bottled mineral water. The programme connects traditional market traders directly with the company’s distribution network, ensuring a more controlled supply and stable prices. Director Utama ID FOOD Ghimoyo explained that partner traders receive goods at competitive prices and, in return, commit to selling products to the public at the highest retail price (HET), preventing price hikes during market fluctuations. He clarified that the programme complements, rather than overlaps with, the government’s ‘Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih’ scheme, which focuses on distributing subsidised goods, while ID FOOD stabilises non-subsidised commodity prices. At the Tebet Timur market, partner traders sell subsidised Minyakita cooking oil for Rp 17,500 per litre, 5kg of Rania brand rice for Rp 74,500, and Raja Gula sugar for Rp 17,500 per kilogram. Director Komersial ID FOOD Dwi Sutoro stated that the programme currently has around 8,000 partners nationwide, with a target to expand to 25,000-27,000 partners by the end of 2026. The expansion will leverage ID FOOD’s 42 branches across Indonesia, from Aceh to Papua. To support distribution, the company has established stock points in high-demand areas such as Bekasi, Jakarta, and Tangerang, serving as distribution hubs for multiple markets. While primarily distributing ID FOOD’s own brands, the company is also open to distributing products from other brands.
