ID Card Misappropriated for Commodity Transaction, PKN Deputy Chairman Opens Possibility of Legal Recourse
Jakarta, VIVA – Deputy Chairman of the Partai Kebangkitan Nusantara (PKN), Gerry Habel Hukubun, claims to have fallen victim to a crime involving the misuse of personal data. Gerry stated that his personal identity was appropriated by irresponsible parties for a transaction involving the sale of coconut commodities at a factory in East Java. Gerry only became aware of this after checking reports in the Coretax system, where it was recorded that his ID card had been used as the basis for a transaction he had never conducted. Gerry explained that he had contacted the factory to request transparency regarding the use of his identity. However, he received no goodwill in response. “I have tried to communicate with the factory to be informed who used my identity, as that is a criminal act of using my ID card for transfers to others. However, the factory seems reluctant to disclose that information,” Gerry said in his statement on Tuesday, 12 May 2026. Gerry then opened the possibility of taking legal steps regarding the misappropriation of his identity. Not only that, Gerry also plans to send a letter to the Minister of Finance (Menkeu), Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, to follow up on this incident and provide a deterrent effect to the perpetrators. “This firm step is taken so that similar cases do not befall other citizens and to ensure stricter data protection in the corporate sector,” he emphasised.
